The Department's mission is to assist families in maintaining a strong family in a healthy community structure by providing assistance in solving problems experienced by children, parents and Elders in the majority community. Those receiving services include tribal citizens who request or on whose behalf services are requested. All those individuals who are members of federally-recognized tribes residing within the service delivery area will receive information and referral. Specific grant programs may be restricted to prescribed eligibility criteria, and membership status in the Pokagon Band.
The Department of Social Services has moved from its location at the front of the Administration Building to the back, where the offices of the Department of Housing & Facilities used to be.
