    Request for Copy of Police Report

    Based on the Freedom of Information Act, should any citizen, insurance company, or member of the general public wish to obtain a copy of a police report, they can call the Police Department main number in Dowagiac at (269) 782-2232.  The receptionist will instruct them on when they can pick up or send via FAX (269) 782-0036 the Request For Copy Form. Only closed case reports can be obtained, if the case is open you can speak with the Investigative Division to determine what the status of your case is. 

    Fill out the following form and print it out.  Send the completed form to the receptionist at the Police Department.

    Citizen Complaint Procedures

    It is the police of the Pokagon Band Tribal Police Department to continuously strive to improve the quality of police services provided to its members and people in its jurisdiction.

    The Pokagon Band Tribal Police Department will accept and ivestigate ALL complaints about the conduct of its employees from any indiviual or employee.  Following a thorough and impartial examination of the available factual information, a disposition will be determined.

    Any department employee learning that a citizen wished to make a complaint, written or oral, signed or anonymous, about an employee or a department directive, shall complete the Citizen Complaint Form.  All citizen complaints shall be documented and investigated.  The employee will complete a complaint form in accordance with this order and immediately refer it to the Police Captain.

    Employment Background Investigations

    The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians Police Department works with Human Resources to complete thorough background investigations for all positions within the Tribe according to the Screening Policy and Procedures.

    You will begin your background in the Human Resources Department where you will be provided with all the necessary paperwork the Police Department will need to assist with your background investigation.  Depending on the position you are applying for, you may be required to be fingerprinted.  You may schedule this by contacting (269) 782-2232. When coming to the Police Department for your fingerprints, be sure to have your drivers license or valid photo ID.

    Notary services are available to Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Tribal Citizens at the Police Department

    Monday – Friday

    8:00am to 5:00pm.
