Youth Explorer Program

The Youth Explorer Program is a program in development, soon to be offered to the Pokagon Band community.

Open to youth 14-20 years of age, the program pairs designated Tribal Police Officers and assigned adults with youth through a law enforcement/military style program. It gives youth an opportunity to learn more about careers and duties of law enforcement, and gain self respect and pride by being involved in activities that will challenge them both mentally and physically. Youth in the program will be required to act accordingly at all times. Failure to do so could lead to removal from the program.

Youth that have an interest in the Explorers Program will be required to go through an application process. The process will include the following:  filling out the application booklet, completing an essay, and interviewing with a board of Tribal Police Officers and staff.

Adults interested in becoming part of the Explorers Program Advisors Committee will be required to complete a thorough background check through the Police Department, as well as an orientation. The orientation will conver responsibilites, guidelines, and expectations of all adults involved in the program.
