Housing Covid-19 Temporary Programs

The Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) has mandated that Housing be a top priority in fighting Covid-19. It is imperative that tribal citizens remain housed in a safe home during this crisis.

To help ensure Pokagon Band citizens have the housing they need, HUD is allowing all tribes to develop new programs to assist those out of work, including small business owners. HUD is also allocating funds to pay for these efforts.

Housing Team, working with Band Leaders have quickly developed four new programs to assist low income, including recently displaced workforce citizens during this crisis. As with other HUD programs we are unfortunately limited to serving only citizens in the 10 county service area. We do however have the Home Owner Repair Reimbursement Program available to over-income, in and out of service area citizens.

New Programs to help fight Covid-19. These are additional, new programs to the programs housing department currently offers. They are effective through July 31, 2020.

Even if you have used other housing programs in the past you could still be eligible for these new programs. Even if you have been told previously you are over-income you could be eligible for these programs if you have recently been furloughed, laid off, or are self- employed. Call to determine eligibility.
