Language Program

The Pokagon Band Language Program offers programs and classes for those interested in learning the Potawatomi language. Learn more about the language here.

Language Apprentice Application Open

The Pokagon Language Program is excited to announce the next phase of our Language Apprentice program called Ézh Bodwéwadmimygo which means “The way we speak Potawatomi.” The Ézh Bodwéwadmimygo Program is a Potawatomi language learning opportunity that pairs adult language learners with our Language Specialists (former language apprentices) and our fluent speaking elders in order to progress the level of language speaking abilities from readers and writers to speakers of our Bodwéwadmimwen. Graduates from this program will become the future language speakers and greatly enhance our language resources and revitalization efforts, including the potential to be future school instructors for our Potawatomi children.

You can now apply to be one of the next language apprentices! Complete the pre-application (below), then apply online here. Thank you for being part of language revitalization.
