Attention Tribal Members!

The address locator can be used to check if your primary household address or an address you are considering moving to is within the Agreement Area. A primary address being within the Agreement Area is required for RTM status activation and RTM benefits.

Agreement Area Overview

The Agreement Area is designated land negotiated exclusively for the purposes of the 2004 Tax Agreement between the State of Michigan and Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. The Agreement Area is specific sections within Cass County, Van Buren County, and Berrien County of Michigan. The Agreement Area is often referred to in the Tax Agreement to specify the physical area of coverage for a given tax benefit. Tribal Members who live within the Agreement Area and are at least 14 years old can be given Residential Tribal Member (RTM) status and can receive additional tax benefit savings.

Addresses on border of Agreement Area

In rare occasions an address is located on or very close to the border of the Agreement Area. In this rare instance, please contact StateTax@PokagonBand-nsn.gov. The address will then be further analyzed to confirm whether the address is within the Agreement Area.
