10/26/2020 - The Election board will be counting ballots for the 2020 Elders Election at 8am Saturday, November 14. We will arrive at the polling place at 7 am to receive any observers and lock the doors to begin counting at 8 am with Tribal Police present. Unofficial results will be posted online, at Elders Hall, Community Center and the Administration Building by Noon on November 14, 2020. Due to the increasing number of covid 19 cases in our area, the 2020 Elder’s Council Election will not be held in-person on November 14 and will be by Absentee Ballots only. If you were planning on attending in-person please submit your absentee ballot request form as soon as possible. If you need one, the Election office can have one ready for you to pick up by calling us ahead of time at 269-782-9475, we can also get one in the mail to you or visit the Office of Tribal Council to download a copy of the request form to print. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we want our elders to be safe and healthy.
- Deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail, fax or email is 4:30pm November 9, 2020
- Deadline to file a request for an absentee ballot by hand delivery to Election Board Office is 2:00pm November 13.
- Deadline for Election Board to receive absentee ballots in PO Box 700 at the Dowagiac Post Office is 4:30pm November 13, 2020
- Ballot count and uncertified election results posted November 14, 2020 after 5pm
