The Housing Department offers many types of housing options in Dowagiac, Hartford, Watervliet, Paw Paw, and South Bend areas for Tribal citizens and their families.

Bgeshmo (Sunset) Apartments

Attention Pokagon Citizens discover your new home in the heart of Dowagiac, MI. These charming, newly renovated two-bedroom apartments offer modern comforts including onsite laundry, keyless entry, and all new stainless-steel appliances.

Monthly rent is $623, with applicants required to have a household income at least three times the rent. Utilities are tenant's responsibility for electric. The apartments are suitable for households of 2 to 4 persons.

Looking for an affordable rental home in Dowagiac? Bgeshmo (Sunset) Apartments, formerly known as Hamilton Square Apartments, located at 315 North Lowe Street in the heart of Dowagiac will soon have 35 newly renovated units available. Completion is tentatively set for the end of 2023. Units will have all new appliances, cabinets, flooring, paint, new on-site laundry, and new, new, new everything!

Apartments will consist of low-income and market rate; studio, one bedroom, and two-bedroom units. Look for an upcoming open house announcement for citizens to tour these newly renovated units.

Elders Units

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must be an enrolled Pokagon Band Elder (55 years old or older).
  2. An applicant for a Low-Income Housing unit shall be within the Low-Income Guidelines.
  3. An applicant for a Housing Unit other than a Low-Income Unit shall have adjusted income of at least three times the monthly rent.
  4. Applicant or household member is not in debt to the Pokagon Band.
  5. Must not have a criminal history.

Townhomes/Apartments

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must be an enrolled Pokagon Band citizen 18 years old or older or a Pokagon Band citizen who is an emancipated minor.
  2. An applicant for a Low-Income housing unit shall be with the Low-Income Guidelines.
  3. An applicant for a Housing unit other than a Low-Income unit shall have adjusted income of at least three times the monthly rent.
  4. Applicant or household member is not in debt to the Pokagon Band.
  5. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
